A former minister is being investigated by the police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a five-star hotel last week.
The incident is alleged to have happened on the night of April 14 in the hotel located near KL Sentral.
The former minister - dropped in the recently announced cabinet although he retained his parliamentary seat in the March 8 general election - was said to be drunk and had tried to caress the woman while she was serving drinks to him.
Kuala Lumpur CID Chief SAC II Ku Chin Wah said the woman, in her 30s and works at the hotel, lodged the report at the Brickfields police station last Friday. Ku however refused to divulge more details but said the ex-minister was currently abroad and police would summon him for questioning upon his return.
He said police were investgating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries up to 10 years jail or a fine or whipping or any two.
The former minister is believed to be a frequent visitor to the hotel. He was embroiled in another controversy last year for allegedly making a racist remark.
